Enabling Reliability/RCM with Maximo – Deploying an effective Reliability program can yield major cost and uptime benefits. However, this program requires a crawl-walk-run sequence and solid EAM system to capture and manage key asset data.

Attendees will receive the following information in an interactive session:

• Reliability Strategy – Understand why an effective Reliability Program optimizes both CAPEX (design improvement) and OPEX (tailored Maintenance Plan). Illustrate how Reliability, Asset Management and Maximo work together.
• RCM & Maximo alignment – Explain the RCM assessment process in straightforward terms with real life examples. Show how key Reliability and RCM components map to specific Maximo applications and data – providing actual case studies.
• Wrap-up – Provide a blueprint, centered on accepted best practices, for enabling a Reliability Program with Maximo enablement

IBM Scheduler – ‘Soup to Nuts’ with recently deployed example – An effective scheduling process can yield major benefits such as wrench time increase, however, aligning your organization, processes and scheduling tool is challenging. Using a recently deployed solution at a major utility, this session will walk through the steps for implementing IBM Scheduler. Attendees will receive the following information in an interactive session – including Maximo/Scheduler demonstration aligned to the below topics:

• Organizational Alignment – Discuss strategies for getting all key groups onboard with a centralized and integrated scheduling process – planning, scheduling, storeroom, supervisors.
• Process Alignment – After organizational buy-in, implementing an effective process is critical. Key areas must be worked out prior to tool configuration including how to filter projects, material reservation options, enabling labor availability, staging and reporting.
• Tool Alignment – There are a myriad of technical, data, and training issues that must be worked out such as integration with Time & Attendance systems, performance optimization, and functional simplification.
• Lessons learned – Key process and technical tips to make IBM Scheduler successful such as using snapshots to enable a 4 week schedule concept or leveraging for a large project management.

Maximo for Managers: Improving “Information ROI” – A lot of granular data is recorded in Maximo, however, turning this data into information that supports business objectives can be challenging and confusing. This session will provide practical methods and tips, from a Manager’s perspective, for improving “Information ROI”. Attendees will receive the following information:

•  Build your ‘Information foundation’ – Before meaningful information can be extracted, key actions must be completed including (a) aligning your strategic and business objectives with Maximo applications and data sets, (b) ensuring your core processes are capturing the right data, and (c) deploying key components where needed such as a data store linking Maximo and Financials.
• Turn Start Centers into a Manager’s “Smart Center” – Start Centers can be very compelling “1 stop shops” if configured properly. Examples and tips will be discussed including: (a) Managing start centers with a three tier approach involving IT, Functional SMEs and end-users, (b) Optimizing data portlets (result sets) to see the “right” assets, work, and material items for a given role and configuration tips such as color coding results, (c) Leveraging data portlets to support an effective, multi-role workflow in lieu of more complex methods, and (d) Adding other components including quick inserts, favorite reports/apps and KPIs.
• Beyond Start Centers – Other manager-centric tips including (a) top shortcut keys, (b) Query 101 capability, (c) Methods to extract (and upload) data, (d) tips for optimizing reporting capability, and (e) tips for enabling “analytic capability” including KPIs, Cognos, and Business Intelligence Packs.

Midstream Challenge: Leverage Maximo for Pipeline Integrity (asset data ‘blocking and tackling’) – With increasing focus on pipeline incidents, federal and state integrity regulations are receiving major visibility. Maximo should be that “cornerstone system” to support these requirements – capturing effective asset and work data (“blocking and tackling”) which can then be integrated with advanced capabilities such as GIS and analytics. This session will provide tactics for this alignment using deployed case studies. Attendees will receive the following information in an interactive session:

•  Understanding the pipeline integrity “data challenge” – Leveraging recent Department of Transportation (DOT) briefs, key compliance issues will be discussed – many relate to effectively capturing and integrating asset and work data (EAM “blocking and tackling”).
• Configuring Maximo for pipeline integrity – Using a deployed midstream example, show methods for configuring Maximo to support line patrol, work tracking and downstream reporting requirements. Show how multiple Maximo applications need to be integrated to support integrity objectives. Discuss advanced capability including GIS integration and mobility.
• Asset data configuration tips – Provide a process and tips for building a solid asset data profile for the midstream domain including location/asset hierarchy, classifications, PMs, Job Plans, and spares – this is critical to enabling integrity objectives.
