Total Resource Management, Inc. (TRM) announces the release of the new and improved TRM RulesManager™, an upgrade of its popular productivity enhancement tool for use with Maximo®, the enterprise asset management (EAM) software created by MRO Software, Inc.

TRM RulesManager is a powerful tool that allows users to easily tailor the behavior of their EAM systems to support their unique business processes. As a configuration engine that stores business rules in configurable XML files that sit outside the EAM software framework, TRM RulesManager works as an independent platform that integrates business-specific applications and eliminates the need for database triggers. It relies on a simple, English-like syntax library so that users are not required to know Java or to examine and rewrite the hundreds of lines of Java code that drive the configuration of their EAM systems.

With TRM RulesManager, screen-based content – including tabs, fields and groups – can be dynamically hidden and displayed based on very specific business rules written in XML. This feature alone virtually eliminates the need to create cloned applications. The latest upgrade also includes a visual display engine with dynamic tab features that allow users to view screen changes as they are written, in real time.

TRM RulesManager also features:

  • Dynamic required fields
  • Dynamic read-only fields
  • Dynamic and static value lists
  • Conditionally determined field values
  • Dynamic application restrictions
  • Virtual fields
  • Custom actions
  • Mail server alerts

TRM RulesManager reduces EAM implementation costs by eliminating the need to create clones, triggers and custom applications which are unnecessarily complex and costly processes. TRM clients say that this tool simplifies the set-up, configuration and implementation of Maximo in an intuitive, easy-to-use environment. “Using TRM RulesManager during implementation allowed us to shorten the time needed to deploy our EAM system and greatly reduced the long-term cost of ownership of our EAM system,” said Brenda Murphy, Maximo administrator at the Fort Eustis Department of Public Works, a long-term TRM client. “This product has reduced the complexity of our configuration and allows us to really make Maximo work for us.”

Helping clients improve their business processes while reducing the costs and complexity involved with deploying EAM systems is one of TRM’s hallmarks. “TRM RulesManager is not only a productivity enhancement tool but also a foundation for additional industry or business-specific applications that can be integrated within the EAM environment,” said TRM President and CEO Ray Brisbane. “When used to its full capacity, TRM RulesManager allows our clients’ EAM systems to emulate the way their businesses should run and delivers ongoing value to customers.”
