Total Resource Management (TRM) today announced the release of a new product – TRM ConstructionManager™ – slated for delivery December 2004. This new product is designed specifically to improve the collection and communication of construction project data by enabling the seamless transfer of data from a construction project manager to the organization’s maintenance manager. This extends the overall effectiveness of Maximo® the enterprise asset management (EAM) system driving the project – a benefit for the organization, users, and their contractors.
This new software application is intended for use by construction project managers, as well as facility and maintenance managers, and can be tailored by industry. It will be available as an add-on module to MRO Software’s Maximo® 5.2; it also can be integrated with Maximo Work Flow to help facilitate the communication of project milestones, reviews and approval processes.
TRM ConstructionManager allows clients to manage the full lifecycle of their construction projects, whether they involve the construction of new facilities or the repair of existing ones. Reported activities include: requirements gathering, project quotes and bids, prioritization, design, approvals, execution, change orders, notifications, permits, warranties and close out. In short, TRM ConstructionManager tracks all of the costs, schedules and resources needed throughout all phases of a client’s project.
The development of this product is one of the many benefits derived from TRM’s recent consulting and implementation engagement with the State of Hawaii. “The State of Hawaii asked us to help create an efficient way to manage the enormous amount of data associated with a long list of current capital improvement projects,” said Don Omura, TRM executive vice president of Pacific operations. “Using our other productivity enhancement utilities – TRM ScreenBuilder™ and TRM RulesManager™ – we came up with an effective, custom solution that not only met our client’s needs but also had the potential to benefit others.”
“Over the last few months, we’ve demonstrated this solution to many potential users,” Omura adds. “We gathered input on other potential requirements that ultimately allowed us to add the functionality that TRM ConstructionManager now offers. We’re now able to market a commercial-off-the-shelf product that addresses not only the needs of construction managers for state, municipal and local enterprises, but also for utilities, design engineering firms, large educational institutions and commercial businesses that manage their own construction projects.”
When TRM ConstructionManager debuts later this year, it will offer the ability to track information on equipment, warranties and maintenance during the construction or renovation of a facility, as well as continuously through that facility’s life cycle. It also will provide the means to manage documents, data and related activities of not just one, but numerous projects – all in an organized and efficient manner.
TRM ConstructionManager complements a suite of business process improvement tools that includes TRM RulesManager, TRM ScreenBuilder and TRM KPI Manager™. For more information on these products, visit www.trmnet.com.
