A major branch of the U.S. military needed to standardize data regarding a variety of public works projects that was coming from several disparate systems. With a track record since 1996 with this client, TRM engineers partnered with their team to identify related business processes, reporting requirements and all necessary government and subcontractor specifications. We used a structured project management approach to address this extremely complex task. The result was a single platform, Internet-based, fully integrated system with a single point of entry. According to the client, the work TRM has done provided totally flexible solutions that have brought efficiencies to everything they do. Another major defense organization, responsible for mission-critical bulk fuel terminals, had moved to enterprise asset management technology 10 years ago but now needed to upgrade to allow for standardization across locations, sharing of resources, and faster information. This client turned to TRM based on its long-standing relationship and TRM’s previous work with the leading fuel unit in the system. TRM provided a full feasibility study and identified best practices among the seven terminals. TRM then helped the client develop a strategy for effectively consolidating into a single platform Maximo system. By using a single pool of subject matter experts for the entire system, the result was improved reporting, more accurate metrics and economies of scale. Using a proven enterprise application deployment methodology, industry-leading software and internet-based architecture, a strong team of defense personnel and TRM consultants pulled it all together into Single Platform Maximo that supports a major defense organization. Critical to this success was TRM’s business technology optimization strategies, Mercury Interactive tools and MRO Software’s Maximo enterprise asset management platform – and a healthy amount of teamwork. TRM was challenged to create a baseline configuration that manages data from six defense depots around the world. The result was a Single Platform Maximo® application, customized through the use of TRM RulesManager™ and TRM ScreenBuilder™, that allows users to automate all critical business functions. More than 5,000 concurrent construction and reconstruction projects are underway in Iraq, thanks in large part to a virtual enterprise known as the Iraq Reconstruction Management System. The system was developed by a team of companies managed by TRM for the Iraq Projects and Contracting Office, and Oracle® plays an essential role in this massive undertaking. This fully integrated enterprise system supports infrastructure lifecycle management, as well as project and financial management of resource and assets for all of the official “Rebuilding Iraq” construction and non-construction efforts. It touches the entire program and project lifecycle – from planning to bidding and acquisition; project and construction management; installation and implementation. It encompasses asset management efforts in terms of maintenance, repair and/or disposal. The system also offers a variety of capital investment reporting tools to enable better decision-making. While TRM’s customers throughout the U.S. commonly use its lifecycle management systems to track everything from truck fleets and facilities to the scheduling of maintenance and logistic activities, this effort is believed to be the first of its kind used for an entire country. TRM was charged with fully analyzing all current operations of the largest U.S. Army logistics contractor and determining the most effective ways to deploy physical, technology and human assets. Utilizing the Value Impact Assessment developed by TRM, this well-known military contractor was able to help its client – the U.S. Army – optimize assets, lower costs, improve productivity and demonstrate return on investment. The largest U.S. Army logistics contractor needed to optimize their asset management technology and ensure that deployment risks were all but eliminated while facing several challenges, including constant changes in system and application configuration; a myriad of technology platforms; low bandwidth, high-latency telecommunications; and the requirement to seamlessly integrate with other enterprise applications. TRM consultants were hired to establish performance baselines during pre-production and production stages of the solution deployment, ensure ongoing compliance to Service Level Objectives and Agreements for application availability and performance, proactively monitor and manage the system, and rapidly detect and resolve system and network problems. A military base wanted an enterprise asset management system to provide the requisite functionality to accommodate its many business processes. Having just gone through a round of labor reductions, the organization was looking for a system to increase employee productivity, as well as to seamlessly integrate with other housing, environmental and public works systems. TRM provided them with a turn-key solution, with a Site Assessment all the way through post-production support. TRM’s implementation of Maximo enabled the base to begin striving toward many of the initial project goals.
