U.S. Marine Corps, Quantico Case Study

The Marine Corps Base Quantico is home to the Marine Corps Combat Development Command and numerous tenant organizations. The base staff provides infrastructure, operational and community services support to these organizations and to the military members, families and civilians who live and work on base. The base is also critical in the support of overall Marine Corps objectives and programs and plays host to many training events, conferences, symposia and other special events.

Established in 1917, MCB Quantico covers 60,484 Acres, including 97 miles of paved roads, 150 Miles of unimproved roadways/trails, 1216 buildings and 759 structures, with $1.67 Billion in plant value.

MCB Quantico wanted an enterprise asset management system to provide the requisite functionality to accommodate its many business processes. Having just gone through a round of labor reductions, the organization was looking for a system to increase employee productivity, as well as to seamlessly integrate with other housing, environmental and public works systems.

TRM provided MCB Quantico with a turn-key solution, with a Site Assessment all the way through post-production support. Included in MCB Quantico’s solution set were the:

  • Site Assessment and Implementation Plan
  • Basic Maximo Applications roll-out
  • MANIS Applications interface
  • MANIS Extensions
  • Project Management controls
  • Materials Management, and Barcoding

TRM’s implementation of Maximo enabled MCB Quantico to begin striving toward many of the initial project goals:

  • Elimination of multiple entry and duplication of systems
  • Improving response time by 25% time by integrating its work management with the requisition and inventory management processes
  • Increasing its inventory control by capturing all costs and consumption rates via the automation of the tool rooms
  • Increasing the accuracy of its maintenance estimates
  • Maximizing its resource utilization and scheduling capabilities by integrating MS Project into its work planning and execution phase.
